Visit of the Second State Secretary of MoD to the 5th Special Purpose Regiment

Visit of the Second State Secretary of MoD to the 5th Special Purpose Regiment

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic, JUDr. Martin Vojtašovič, together with the State Counsellor General, Major General (ret.) Miroslav Kocian and the Head of the State Secretary's Office, Marian Líškay, entered the gates of the 5th Special Forces Regiment on Tuesday, 3 September 2024. It was the first visit of the State Secretary to the Regiment since his appointment.
At the beginning of the visit, the Commander of the 5th Infantry Regiment, Colonel Peter Žochňák, gave a briefing on the tasks and mission of the Regiment.
Each major visit includes a wreath-laying ceremony at the Special Operations Forces Memorial, where participants honour the memory of the regiment's fallen soldiers.
Can-Am and Polaris ATVs were used to transport the distinguished visitors around the regimental grounds to the small arms range area, where a static weapons demonstration awaited. Under strict security measures and instructions from the regiment's operators, the delegation had the opportunity to try firing individual weapons and get at least a partial "feel" for the work of professional soldiers.
At the end of the meeting, the Commanding Officer gave the delegation a tour of the regimental club's premises, and the visit was recorded in the 5th SFR chronicle.
